History.

a mixture of cultures

Brandon Sandile Thambekwayo, designer and owner of The Artistic, was introduced to fashion from an early age — his mom worked in a clothing store in the early 2000s. He was born in Pretoria; his personality is a mixture of multiple African cultures.

The Artistic brand was established in 2015, while Brandon was still in high school. Today the brand is recognised across Gauteng — mostly in Pretoria and Johannesburg.

After studying Sound Engineering in 2018 – 2019 he stepped further into the fashion business, working at a clothing store that styled most of the celebrities in the music industry. During that time he was also given an opportunity to style.

From Butterfly Effect to Drip Season, Chicano and the current drop — each collection writes the next chapter.

Why we make it ourselves

Cut, sewn and printed
inside 12km of the studio.

We share a building with our printer in Doornfontein and the cut-and-sew works out of the heart of Pretoria. A short supply chain means we can make 80 pieces, see how they sell, and reprint without a container of dead stock.
